Philip Rivers Breaks Dan Fouts' Chargers Record for Career Passing TDs
Philip Rivers became the San Diego Chargers' all-time passing touchdown leader on Sunday, surpassing Dan Fouts with a third-quarter strike to Stevie Johnson against the Cincinnati Bengals.
That put Rivers at 255 career touchdown passes in his first 150 NFL games, surpassing Fouts, who threw 254 strikes for the Chargers in 181 games, per Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com.
For a large portion of the offseason, it looked as though Rivers might not surpass that mark, as he reportedly wanted to be traded amid rumors the organization would be leaving San Diego, according to former Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson (via Tom Krasovic of the San Diego Union-Tribune). He ultimately signed a contract extension, however, and seems primed to finish his career with the Chargers.

Now, his place in Chargers history as the organization's finest quarterback is indisputable. With plenty of football in front of him, though, Rivers will be more interested in bringing the Chargers a Super Bowl than his legacy.
