Carroll Comments on Decision to Sit Wagner vs. Panthers
Monday, Oct. 19
“He could have gone out there and played, played kind of hampered, and that wasn’t the right decision. The decision was to hold him out and hope he can make it for the Thursday game,” Carroll announced following the Week 6 game, per Condotta.
Wagner Essential Ingredient to Seahawks Defense
Wagner is a first-team All-Pro who was already dealing with an ankle injury before Week 2 of this season. He also missed five games last season because of turf toe.
Former NFL team head physician David J. Chao offered an encouraging evaluation of Wagner's injury situation:
Without a field general to make calls in the heart of the Seahawks' vaunted defense, one of the NFL's most successful teams in recent years had a tough time playing to its full potential.
Other Seahawks stars such as Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch and the Legion of Boom rightfully garner a lot of attention, but Wagner is just as important to Seattle's hopes of making another playoff push.
