Washington's Absence Tested Houston's WR Depth
Washington came to the Texans on a one-year, $1 million deal in the offseason following 10 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans as Houston sought to bolster its young receiving corps with a savvy veteran.
Since arriving in Texas, Washington has caught 13 passes for 210 yards and no touchdowns as the team's third receiver behind young gun DeAndre Hopkins and Cecil Shorts, who has been hobbled recently by a shoulder injury.

While Washington's numbers over the course of his career haven't been striking by any means, he has certainly been consistent. According to Pro-Football-Reference.com, Washington is one of 10 receivers to total at least 500 yards and two touchdowns every season from 2008 through 2014.
Washington isn't an integral offensive component on the surface, but he provides stability. On a young team that's still experiencing growing pains, that quality can't be overlooked.
