Carlos Hyde Records 1st 100-Yard Rushing Game of Career

San Francisco 49ers running back Carlos Hyde recorded the first 100-yard performance of his career in Monday's 20-3 win over the Minnesota Vikings, putting up a Week 1-best 168 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries, per ESPN Stats & Info.

A second-round selection in the 2014 NFL Draft, Hyde served as the backup running back behind Frank Gore last season, rushing for 333 yards and four touchdowns on just 83 carries in 14 games.

With Gore being acquired by the Indianapolis Colts in the offseason, Hyde was essentially handed the starting job, though the 49ers did bring in Reggie Bush to handle passing-down work.

Bush was barely needed Monday night, as Hyde's impressive performance allowed the 49ers to nurse a lead for the entire second half, which meant quarterback Colin Kaepernick only attempted 26 passes.

Hyde finished Week 1 as the NFL's sole leader in carries, rushing yards and scrimmage yards, with his two rushing touchdowns also part of a tie for first place.

And his strong effort wasn't just a product of good blocking and/or poor defense, as Hyde's 77 rushing yards after contact led all players in Week 1, per ESPN Stats & Info.

With an upcoming road matchup against the shaky Pittsburgh Steelers defense, Hyde has a real shot to reach 300 rushing yards before the end of Week 2.
