Ware Seeking Sole Possession of 13th Place on All-Time Sacks List

Bleacher Report MilestonesSep 17, 2015

Denver Broncos outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware enters Thursday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs in a tie with Rickey Jackson for 13th place on the all-time sacks list, needing just one more sack (or even just one-half) to take sole possession of 12th place.

Ware notched his 128th career sack in Sunday's 19-13 Week 1 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, taking down quarterback Joe Flacco for a nine-yard loss on a 3rd-and-7 at the end of the first quarter.

The Ravens were fortunate to limit Ware to just the one sack, as he dominated replacement left tackle James Hurst after starting left tackle Eugene Monroe was forced from the game with a concussion.

Ware received a plus-9.4 Week 1 grade from Pro Football Focus, easily ranking first among all 3-4 outside linebackers, with teammate Von Miller (+6.4) taking the No. 2 spot.

Chiefs outside linebacker Justin Houston, who will face the Broncos on Thursday, finished third at just plus-4.8.

It's safe to say that Thursday's game will feature the best group of outside linebackers in any NFL game this season, as Ware, Miller and Houston are also joined by Chiefs outside linebacker Tamba Hali, who has 79.5 career sacks to his name.
