The Cowboys did not list Gregory among the team's inactives against the New York Giants.

Gregory Comments on Timeline for Return

Tuesday, Oct. 20

Gregory discussed his return during an appearance on KRLD-FM 105.3 The Fan (h/t the Dallas Morning News):

"

I'll be back (this week against the Giants). Oh, that's certain. I'll be back. To what extent, I don't know, but I'll be playing though. All injuries are different, but with this one especially it's going to linger a little bit. But the main thing is I'm 100 percent ready to go. Nothing's going to hold me back from playing 100 percent so any other little pain that comes, it'll go away after a while. It's more the mental thing, like knowing you're 100 percent.

"

How Gregory Loss Impacts Dallas' Defense

Gregory tallied 17.5 sacks the past two seasons at Nebraska, and he looked like his college self before the setback, as Louis Riddick of ESPN pointed out:

Considering Dallas is 18th in the league in sacks and has failed to consistently put pressure on opposing quarterbacks, Gregory is a critical piece for a defensive unit with Super Bowl aspirations.

The team will need Greg Hardy, Jeremy Mincey and DeMarcus Lawrence to pick up the slack from a pass-rushing perspective if Gregory is unable to go in Week 7.
