Terrell Suggs Injury Update: Ravens LB Out for Season with Torn Achilles
For the second time in four seasons, Terrell Suggs has suffered a torn Achilles. The Baltimore Ravens announced their All-Pro linebacker will miss the remainder of the 2015 season after coming out of Sunday's 19-13 loss to the Denver Broncos with a foot injury.
Suggs, who turns 33 next month, did not record a defensive statistic before leaving in the third quarter. Veteran Elvis Dumervil will likely take over Suggs' place in the starting lineup. Dumervil recorded 17 sacks last season as a pass-rushing specialist; he'll play a lot more snaps now. Za'Darius Smith, a fourth-round pick out of Kentucky, was inactive Sunday but should become part of the rotation.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
There is no way to properly sugarcoat how much this will affect the Baltimore defense. Suggs, even as he advances in age, is one of the NFL's most dynamic outside linebackers. He recorded 61 tackles and 12 sacks last season, his sixth campaign with double-digit sacks. Pro Football Focus graded him as the second-best 3-4 outside linebacker in football in 2014, behind only the Kansas City Chiefs' Justin Houston.
"Terrell Suggs is definitely a huge part of this team, huge leader on this team," Baltimore coach John Harbaugh told Todd Karpovich for ESPN.com in June. "Emotional leader, vocal leader. Great football player."
Last year was also his second straight campaign playing 16 games and his fourth in the last five seasons. He missed the first eight games of the 2012 campaign with the same injury to his right foot, and at the time, his recovery was considered miraculous, given that the injury happened during that offseason.
The fact the Ravens ruled Suggs out means the next time we'll see him in action on a football field will be August at the earliest. It will be up to the trio of Dumervil, Smith and Courtney Upshaw to make up for his loss in the meantime.
