Utah Football Players Shot at Party, Expected to Be OK
Utah head football coach Kyle Whittingham confirmed Sunday two players, freshman running back Marcel Brooks-Brown and sophomore tight end Lo Falemaka, suffered gunshot wounds to the torso late Saturday evening at a party in Salt Lake City.
ESPN's Ted Miller posted statements from the school and police, including Whittingham's remarks about how both players are expected to make a full recovery:
Brooks-Brown was released from the hospital on Monday, according to the Associated Press (via ESPN.com), while Falemaka will reportedly remain in the hospital for "a week or so."
This is the second time Falemaka has been involved in a dangerous altercation. While attending Cottonwood High School in the Salt Lake City area in 2010, he was the victim of an attack by four men that left him with facial injuries and a possibly torn ACL.
Brooks-Brown was the 55th-ranked running back in the Class of 2015 and a 3-star recruit, according to 247Sports. Initial reports suggest he and Falemaka will be OK.
