Daily Fantasy Baseball 2015: MLB DraftKings Bargain Buys for September 13

Curtis CalhounSep 13, 2015

One of the best feelings when playing daily fantasy sports is when you pick a player who ends up performing at his value. However, it's even better to know which players can outperform their undervalued asking price.

This list consists of sleeper picks that should outperform their low fantasy values on Sunday. This set includes former All-Stars and surprise young players.

Here are five bargain buys for Sunday's MLB action.

Michael Wacha, SP, St. Louis Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Reds ($8,600)

1 of 5

Wacha will face a Cincinnati Reds team on Sunday that is near the bottom of the National League Central Division. He has been impressive recently with a 4-1 record and a 2.09 ERA over his past seven starts.

Wacha dominated in his previous start against the Reds on August 6. The 24-year-old allowed no earned runs, four hits and recorded six strikeouts in a 3-0 victory. The Reds rank 12th in the National League with a .250 batting average and rank 11th in runs scored this season.

Wacha’s reasonably low value makes him a steal for Sunday’s MLB action. He has the 10th-highest value among starting pitchers for Sunday and should produce at a high level against a struggling team.

Mookie Betts, OF, Boston Red Sox vs. Tampa Bay Rays ($4,300)

2 of 5

Betts has been one of the unsung heroes for the Red Sox while the team has struggled in 2015. The second-year player is hitting .448 over his past seven games with an astounding .515 on-base percentage.

Betts will have a favorable matchup against Rays starter Drew Smyly on Sunday. Smyly has hardly started any games this season due to injuries and has just a 2-2 record and a 3.59 ERA in 2015.

Betts should be able to keep his hot hitting alive and produce admirably in daily leagues. His reasonable value makes him a must-start while he continues to play at a high level.

Robinson Cano, 2B, Seattle Mariners vs. Colorado Rockies ($3,600)

3 of 5

Cano and the Mariners have had a disastrous 2015 season after many fans believed that Seattle could be in the World Series discussion. The second baseman is hitting just .278 this season with just 15 home runs and 62 RBI.

Though Cano has had a disappointing season, he has improved since the All-Star break. He is hitting .322 in the second half of 2015 with nine home runs and has hit safely in three of his past five games. Cano and the Mariners face a favorable matchup against Rockies starter Kyle Kendrick, who has recorded an abysmal 5-12 record with a 6.25 ERA in 2015.

Cano may not be a perennial All-Star anymore, but his valuable plate experience and upside make him a great pick for Sunday. He is also decently priced and should produce well given the value.

Evan Longoria, 3B, Tampa Bay Rays vs. Boston Red Sox ($4,600)

4 of 5

Longoria underperformed during the first half of 2015 but has produced admirably since the All-Star break. The third baseman is hitting .435 over his past seven games and could be back to being a great fantasy option as the season comes to a close.

Longoria always seems to play his best against the Red Sox this season. Through 51 plate appearances against Boston in 2015, he has recorded an astounding .373 batting average with seven doubles and a .458 on-base percentage.

Longoria is on the upswing at the right time and is a bargain buy on Sunday. His underwhelming 2015 season as a whole has resulted in his low asking price, which makes him a must-have for Sunday’s games.

Miguel Cabrera, 1B/3B, Detroit Tigers vs. Cleveland Indians ($4,500)

5 of 5

Cabrera has struggled recently, and his daily fantasy baseball value has plummeted in the process. He is hitting just .222 with 13 strikeouts and just one home run over his past 15 games played.

Though he has struggled over the past few weeks, Cabrera has a great opportunity to break out of his slump Sunday against Indians starter Trevor Bauer. Over his past seven games pitched, Bauer has recorded an atrocious 6.35 ERA.

Cabrera is still having a great season overall despite his recent struggles. Now is the perfect time to pick him up at a reasonable asking price before he inevitably causes havoc at the plate once again.
