Auburn 27, Jacksonville State 20 — Final (OT)
Somehow, some way, the sixth-ranked Auburn Tigers escaped what would have been one of the greatest upsets in college football history Saturday against the FCS-level Jacksonville State Gamecocks.
It took a game-tying touchdown with 39 seconds left on an incredible leaping grab from Melvin Ray for the Tigers to force overtime in a game that Jacksonville State seemingly controlled from the onset. Jeremy Johnson did just enough to overcome two terrible interceptions and allow Peyton Barber—23 carries, 125 yards—the chance to win the game in overtime.
