Georgia Football: Report Card Grades for Every New Starter

Brian JonesSep 11, 2015

Georgia was able to have a strong performance against Louisiana-Monroe in a 51-14 Week 1 win. Veteran players such as Nick Chubb, Malcolm Mitchell, Leonard Floyd and Qunicy Mauger played at a high level on Saturday.

The new starters such as Greyson Lambert, Jake Ganus and Isaiah Wynn also made a statement in the win.

But how did all the rest of the new starters pan out? Here are some grades for each new Bulldogs starter:

Lambert had a strong debut for the Bulldogs, as he went 8-for-12 for 141 yards and two touchdowns. His second pass was a touchdown throw to Jeb Blazevich and he threw another score to Mitchell later in the game.

Lambert did make some mistakes when it comes to reads, but it was a very efficient day for the signal-caller.

Wynn struggled at times with the ULM defensive line but was able to get accustomed to what it was doing as the game progressed. He did a good job in pass protection and was able to get a nice push when Chubb, Sony Michel and Keith Marshall needed yards.

Ganus had a strong spring and fall camp, and he was able to carry it over into the ULM game. Ganus tallied three tackles at inside linebacker and did a good job of taking on blocks as well as making stops in the run game.

Malkom Parrish was very active at cornerback. He ended the day with six tackles and one tackle for loss. He made sure he was in on a lot of plays and should only get better as the season rolls on.

Rico McGraw was the only new starter who struggled all game. He had his share of missed tackles on the two Warhawks scoring drives, and according to the Athens Banner-Herald's Marc Weiszer, he was beaten by receiver Rashon Ceaser on the second touchdown:

"

ULM scores on 29-yard touchdown pass from Garrett Smith to Rashon Ceaser. Freshman Rico McGraw was in coverage. UGA leads 35-14 11:02 3rd.

However, McGraw did some good things at the start of the game when it came to run support. The true freshman finished with three tackles.
