Patriots Get Lewis Back in Run, Pass Attacks
Lewis suffered a fractured fibula and ligament damage in his left leg during the 2013 preseason, preventing him from playing a down during the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
However, the Patriots came calling last December and signed him to a reserve/future deal. And thanks to the team's lack of a defined backfield pecking order, Lewis was able to impress New England's coaches enough to work his way onto the roster.
After doing so, the 2011 fifth-round pick proved he belonged right away with a solid showing in the Patriots' season-opening 28-21 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. His 69 yards in that outing equaled his rushing total from his nine-game stint with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2012. Lewis also tallied 51 receiving yards in the win, which was more than double his career total entering the game.
So far this season, he has totaled 40 carries for 201 yards and two touchdowns while catching 26 passes for 256 yards and one score.
