The Top-Selling Rookie NFL Jerseys to Start the Season

Matt KingSep 12, 2015

The NFL season is finally here. We can finally wake John Madden from his hypersleep.

NFL jersey season, however, is year-round. There's no better way to show support for the team and the players you love than to proudly drape their number on your back. And NFL fans are all about that.

But who are the undisputed kings of NFL jersey sales? Let's break down the top rookies at the start of the season.

Let us know your favorites in the comments!

No. 8: DeVante Parker, Miami Dolphins

1 of 8

Everyone loves good rookie wide receivers. They're so full of hope and promise.

Miami fans are ready for DeVante Parker to step in immediately and contribute to an offense that was already pretty solid. Parker could have the Fins knocking on the playoff door if he lives up to his potential.

No. 7: Shaq Thompson, Carolina Panthers

2 of 8

Carolina Panthers fans may have been hoping for some WR help in the draft, but something tells me they're already feeling pretty good about having Shaq Thompson line up next to Luke Kuechly this season.

No. 6: Shane Ray, Denver Broncos

3 of 8

The Denver Broncos DE was drafted near the end of the first round, but already he's been given the highest grade of any rookie by Pro Football Focus (via Scotty Payne of SB Nation's Mile High Report).

That sort of thing has Denver fans very excited to see what this young man can do to put their team over the top.

No. 5: Melvin Gordon, San Diego Chargers

4 of 8

LaDainian Tomlinson still casts a large shadow on any San Diego Chargers RB, but Melvin Gordon isn't afraid of the challenge.

The rookie had a prolific senior season at Wisconsin, coming just 41 yards short of Barry Sanders' single-season rushing record. Chargers fans are hoping he can have the same kind of success in San Diego.

No. 4: Amari Cooper, Oakland Raiders

5 of 8

In a draft loaded with talented WRs, Amari Cooper was the cream of the crop. The No. 4 overall pick looks like he is capable of stepping onto an NFL field and being a star on day one.

The Oakland Raiders have a lot of hope invested in Cooper that he can connect with second-year QB Derek Carr. The jersey sales tell us they are confident, too.

No. 3: Kevin White, Chicago Bears

6 of 8

After parting ways with Brandon Marshall, the Chicago Bears needed a new stud WR to line up next to Alshon Jeffery. And they couldn't scoop up Kevin White fast enough.

The first-rounder from West Virginia has the size and skill to be a Larry Fitzgerald-like talent.

No. 2: Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

7 of 8

The No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft, Jameis Winston has a lot of people excited about what he can bring to the league. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are hoping he can be the franchise quarterback they never had.

Winston has shown a ton of promise early on, and Tampa Bay fans clearly have his back.

No. 1: Marcus Mariota, Tennessee Titans

8 of 8

Even though he wasn't No. 1 in the draft, Marcus Mariota tops the list of rookie jersey sales. Not only that, but he's also in the top 10 of all offensive players, rookie or not.

The Heisman winner from Oregon is definitely the kind of player who gets people excited. He's got the pocket presence to excel in the NFL and the athleticism to make things happen outside of the pocket. He and Winston should be battling their whole career for QB supremacy.
