Smith Experiencing Rough 2015
This isn't the first physical setback for the signal-caller.
Smith missed the early stages of the regular season with a broken jaw after getting punched in the locker room by former teammate IK Enemkpali. Jets head coach Todd Bowles provided more details about the bizarre incident at the time, per Seth Walder and Mehta of the New York Daily News.
"There was an altercation in the locker room," Bowles said. "Had nothing to do with football. Something very childish. He got cold-cocked, sucker-punched whatever you want to call it, in the jaw."
Adam Schefter of ESPN later reported the entire ordeal allegedly started over a dispute about a $600 plane ticket purchased by the linebacker. Smith reportedly said he would reimburse him the money. When that didn't happen, a confrontation ensued, and Enemkpali punched the quarterback, who missed several weeks as a result.
