A.J. Green Reportedly Agrees to Contract Extension with Cincinnati Bengals

Timothy RappSep 10, 2015

The Cincinnati Bengals and wideout A.J. Green agreed to a four-year, $60 million extension on Friday, according to Jim Owczarski of the Cincinnati Enquirer. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network confirmed the report.

Contract talks had "ramped up significantly over the past few days" between the parties, per Rapoport on Sept. 10.

Green, 27, has posted four straight seasons with at least 65 receptions, 1,000 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Despite missing three games last year and battling injuries throughout the season, Green still managed to snare 69 catches for 1,041 yards and six touchdowns.

Green is Andy Dalton's top target and has been a transformative presence for Cincy's offense. He not only gives the team a vertical threat, but he's also excellent in the red zone, as he can sky above defensive backs and make highlight-reel catches on fade routes and deep balls.

Ensuring that Green remains in Cincinnati for the foreseeable future absolutely was a smart move for the organization.
