Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Sheamus Ruins Sting’s Championship Moment
One of the biggest moments that could take place at Night of Champions would be wrestling legend Sting capturing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but Vince McMahon likely won’t let The Icon enjoy his victory for long.
That’s where Sheamus and the Money in the Bank briefcase come into play.
After Sting and Rollins put on a great match in the main event, Sting winning would be a big shock, especially considering he was one of the top WCW stars during the Monday Night War.
Add the fact that after celebrating for only a few seconds, Sheamus would hit the ring backed by The Authority and take the title back. Not only would it build sympathy for Sting, but it would also continue the face turn for Rollins and the long-term storyline between Triple H and his protege.
That would be a monumental swerve.
Daniel Bryan Teams with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose
It’s a long shot, but the most intriguing swerve would be Bryan returning from an extended absence to team up with Ambrose and Reigns to take on The Wyatt Family in a six-man tag match.
Bryan has said in interviews that he was medically cleared by an independent doctor, so a return should be possible whenever WWE needs him. Add the long history of storylines between Bryan and Bray Wyatt, and this would be a natural fit for a return.
WWE must learn from its mistake when it rushed Bryan back into action, and putting him in six-man matches and minimizing his workload would be the best way to keep him healthy. With this storyline needing a major player to bring it all together, Bryan is the perfect addition to the group.
Lana Costs Dolph Ziggler a Victory
While most wrestling fans see the writing on the wall for Summer Rae to cost Dolph Ziggler the victory against Rusev at Night of Champions, Lana should be the one who comes to the ring and inadvertently costs her boyfriend the win.
Lana and Ziggler have been a strong couple for months, but they are on the rocks thanks to a huge controversy featuring Summer Rae and a shower interaction. Despite Lana’s wrist injury, she could come to the ring and make the situation worse by accidentally giving Rusev the distraction victory.
In the short term, the outcome will further convolute the complicated storyline, but the hope is that it’s a long-term con that will eventually feature Rusev and Lana once again joining forces.
