Braun Strowman Has Infused Life into Wyatts vs. Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose Feud

Tom ClarkSep 11, 2015

Braun Strowman came from out of nowhere when he debuted on WWE programming. The man that once danced to the ring with party animal Adam Rose now stands at the side of a very different kind of animal in Bray Wyatt.

Now the feud with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose has new legs, and that is thanks to the addition of Strowman.

For many fans, this could not have come at a better time.

Criticism has been leveled at this feud in recent weeks by those that feel it's just not going anywhere. Reigns and Wyatt seemed to have done as much as they could without a new direction being taken, and even Ambrose's involvement couldn't get things moving along any better.

Fans wanted a cohesive storyline with a satisfying ending, and instead they got The Wyatts versus The Shield revisited. While both sides have done their part in the ring to get this rivalry over, it's just not been quite enough.

But now there is some drama as the odds are uneven with Reigns and Ambrose falling behind. The favorites to win are outnumbered, and there is no clear indication as to which Superstar will step up to help them at Night of Champions. Finally there is some intrigue, as there is new focus on the conflict.

All it took was a guy in a sheep's mask to make it happen.

Strowman is the new life this angle desperately needed.  His involvement creates problems for Ambrose and Reigns, but it also creates opportunities as well. Now the singles bouts can be switched up between three men instead of two, giving fans fresh matchups on TV.

The mystery surrounding Strowman is also a nice touch here as no one really knows where his character came from. He has a good look, and physically he's an absolute beast, but after that, it's anyone's guess as to what he can do or really why he's doing it.

His strength has been on display, and that will definitely be a factor as it invites different Superstars to fill the void next to Ambrose and Reigns. Strowman may be untouchable right now, but if he's tested by a guy like Ryback or Mark Henry, that could change.

Strowman's presence also strengthens Wyatt, whose role as the manipulative cult leader is now back at the forefront. The Eater of Worlds can once again direct traffic, watching as Strowman and Luke Harper carry out his marching orders.

The long-standing war between The Wyatts and The Shield means more with new blood. The two sides have had friction since the moment they first crossed paths in WWE, and it continues to this day. Strowman may not have been involved in the beginning, but he looks the part, he's bigger than Reigns and Ambrose is just crazy enough to take a shot at him.

Perhaps the most important element Strowman has added to this rivalry is interest.

Fans now have a reason to be more invested than they did before, if only to see what Wyatt's new disciple will do next. Instead of the criticism over the apparent lack of direction Reigns versus Wyatt initially had, the focus is more on how Reigns and Ambrose will handle the newest threat that's been put before them.

The fact is if fans don't care, they will tune out. Crowd reactions will become strained, and the talent involved will grow weak as a result. That cannot happen in this case because all four men have worked extremely hard to get over, and all four surely want to stay over as well.

However, Strowman is the great unknown.

Fans seem to be popping for him when they need to, and he will be booed by association due to his alliance with Wyatt. But right now he's just sort of there and until he starts working more in the ring, much of what could be accomplished is not. He needs to keep getting involved and start wrestling so Ambrose and Reigns can get their hands on him.

Whether that moment comes on TV or at Night of Champions, the fact remains Strowman is good for business. He's brought new life to a feud that was on life support, and now the only thing left is to sit back and watch what happens next.
