BVB Make Durm Injury Statement
Wednesday, Sept. 9
Germany international Erik Durm is set to be out until the end of October after BVB confirmed the defender has gone under the knife.
The club released a statement on its official website, per Sky Sports (via FoxSports.com), briefly outlining the procedure: "Borussia Dortmund left-back Erik Durm was today operated on. Dr. Jurgen Eichhorn removed inflamed tissue from the knee of Durm during surgery."
The young player, who made his breakthrough in 2013, has been sidelined through August and leaves manager Thomas Tuchel short of options.

The Dortmund boss recently said he relies on Durm's recovery skills and would not purchase a defender before the end of the transfer window, saying, per Nicholas McGee of Goal.com: "I didn't say that we will sign a right-back because that's definitely not the plan. We rely on the speedy recovery of Piszczek and Durm. Therefore there is no need at the moment."
The 23-year-old played 18 times for his side in the Bundesliga last term, per Squawka.com, and was expected to make a strong contribution after a difficult season at the Westfalenstadion.
Durm's injury has come at a complicated time, forcing BVB to cope without him just after the closure of the transfer window.
He is a star of the future, but as Dortmund rebuild, they need Durm to return as fast as possible.
