LeSean McCoy Discusses Chip Kelly, Bills Trade, DeMarco Murray in GQ Interview

LeSean McCoy revealed in an interview with GQ this week that he's still getting over the shock of being traded from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Buffalo Bills during the offseason.

In March, the running back was involved in a high-profile swap that saw linebacker Kiko Alonso head to Philadelphia. He told Zach Baron of GQ that it's something he certainly didn't see coming.

"That was crazy," McCoy said. "I felt like I'd always be there."

The three-time Pro Bowl selection made headlines following the trade by making comments that suggested Eagles head coach Chip Kelly considered race when making roster decisions. He's far more happy with the treatment he's received from Rex Ryan, who's in his first year coaching the Bills, per GQ.

"[He] lets you be a man. He won't say, 'Be in bed at ten o'clock,' or check your sleep. He's just like: Be professionals," McCoy said.

After the Eagles moved on from the now-27-year-old back, they signed former Dallas Cowboys star DeMarco Murray to fill the void. The report notes McCoy doesn't think the team's replacement will be able to live up to his standards.

"I think Murray's good," he said. "But I don't see him as competition as far as the best backs. I like my game a lot."

Murray responded to this statement, via Reuben Frank of CSN Philly:

I never worry about what someone else says about me, good, bad, and ugly. I can only control what I can control, and I can't control what someone else says about me. It's funny, but I don't take anything to heart. He has his opinion, I'm sure everyone else has theirs. I'm not worried about it at all.”

McCoy will get his chance to show the Eagles they made the wrong decision in Week 14 when the Bills travel to Philly for what could be a crucial matchup. Both teams head into the regular season with realistic playoff expectations.

He'll need to stay healthy for the Bills to make the postseason for the first time in 16 years, though. He's been dealing with a hamstring injury since the early portion of the preseason, leaving his status for Sunday's opener against the Indianapolis Colts in question.
