San Marino Score First Away Goal for 14 Years in Euro Qualifier vs. Lithuania

April 25, 2001. That was the last time San Marino had scored an away goal.

Until Tuesday night, when—14 years later—striker Matteo Vitaioli finally ended the goal drought.

The striker's driven free-kick somehow found its way through a packed wall to beat the unsighted Lithuania goalkeeper and bring the minnows back on on level terms with 35 minutes remaining.

And boy did they celebrate. The minnows even took a "shot" at Cristiano Ronaldo through their official Twitter account.

Unfortunately for San Marino, the night was to end in familiar heartbreak, as Lukas Spalvis scored in the 92nd minute to secure Lithuania a dramatic win.
