Neymar Returns for Club World Cup Final
Sunday, Dec. 20
The Brazilian's name was among the starting XI for Barca's showdown with River Plate in the Club World Cup final on Sunday, as relayed by AS.
Brazilian in Form of His Life
The 23-year-old is one of the Blaugrana's most important players, combining with Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi to form arguably the best attacking trio on the planet. Neymar may be the youngest of the three, but since moving to Europe from Santos in 2013, he has fully established himself as one of the world's best.
He was particularly important early in the 2015-16 campaign following a serious injury to four-time Ballon d'Or winner Messi. With the Argentinian and team-mate Rafinha sidelined, the scoring duties fell to both Neymar and Suarez, and the two stood up to the challenge, keeping the Blaugrana at the top of the Liga standings.
Without Messi and Rafinha, it quickly became clear some of Barcelona's remaining forwards couldn't live up to the lofty expectations. Sandro Ramirez and Munir El Haddadi both disappointed, and there has been little improvement from the pair in Neymar's absence.
Now the Brazilian is back, Barcelona can resume their assault on multiple fronts with real confidence.
