Lana In Splint, Likely to Miss 4 Months

Monday, Sept. 7

“We obtained X-rays which showed a Colles’ fracture and [we put her] in a splint. Most of these Colles’ fractures do better surgically than non-surgically, especially in younger patients," WWE's senior ringside physician Dr. Scott Amann said, per WWE.com. "Most likely this will require an operation, which will take her out of active competition for approximately four months.”

Lana, who had mostly avoided in-ring work during her WWE career, has been more active of late during her and Dolph Ziggler's feud with Summer Rae and Rusev. Lana and Summer Rae have been involved in multiple pull-apart brawls, which led to some rumors the four would have a true lover's quarrel by way of a mixed tag match at Night of Champions, per Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats.

Lana's injury takes that off of the table. It's interesting to see what WWE Creative chooses to do with this feud now—especially because it seems snakebitten by injuries. Rusev suffered a broken foot in May that took him out of action for more than a month, right at the time Lana had broken off from the Bulgarian Brute in favor of Ziggler.

While Rusev continued to make enough appearances to continue the feud, it's unclear what type of burn-off this could have without Lana physically involved. Rusev and Ziggler have already gone one-on-one on multiple occasions. Without the Summer-Lana drama, it's hard to envision this having a satisfying finish.
