Moore was a third-round draft pick by Oakland in 2013. He has emerged as a solid starter over the past two seasons, appearing in 26 games (22 starts) over that span and recording 105 total tackles with 7.5 sacks.
It's a surprising move by the Raiders, which don't have much depth at pass-rusher. The team had 22 sacks in 2014, with Justin Tuck's five leading the way.
ESPN.com's Bill Williamson was critical of Oakland for making the deal and the return it received:
Scott Bair of CSN Bay Area reported that Moore fell out of favor with new Oakland head coach Jack Del Rio.
"The coaching staff didn’t like his attitude in recent weeks, and he was pushed further and further out of the mix," Bair wrote.
Moore did not have a strong 2014, with Pro Football Focus rating him 19th out of 21 4-3 outside linebackers (h/t Connor Byrne of ProFootballRumors.com), but this is the perfect buy-low opportunity for the Colts.
Indianapolis has Trent Cole and Erik Walden plugged in as starting outside linebackers. Moore, who will be adjusting to a 3-4 scheme, can spell those players or emerge as a starter if either falters.
