Fan Names Son After Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III

It's difficult to imagine there is any demonstration of a fan's loyalty more lasting than a tattoo. One Washington Redskins fan, however, might have topped that.

After Robert Griffin III's rookie season, Emanuel Vega won a bet with his girlfriend, a Dallas Cowboys fan, to name their now-two-year-old son after the quarterback: Robert Griffin Vega.

"For an NFL team like us, it was just hope, just any hope," Vega told the Washington Post's Dan Steinberg of the craze that rippled through the fanbase after the 2012 season. "As Redskins fans, it was like RGIII was going to save our franchise. Everyone got lost. Everyone got crazy."

Despite the injuries and drama that have marked the quarterback's career since, including the team's recent decision to name Kirk Cousins its 2015 starter, Vega stands by his choice.

"I don’t regret it at all," Vega told Steinberg. "I really respect the guy a lot. ... I’m an RGIII guy. A lot of people say he’s full of himself or he’s an egomaniac, but I don’t see it. I think he knows what he wants; he just wants to be the best quarterback he can, and you can’t blame him."
