Josh McNary Found Not Guilty of Rape: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction
Former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Josh McNary was acquitted on charges of rape, criminal confinement and battery on Sept. 3, according to Kristine Guerra of the Indianapolis Star.
He described the experience as "traumatic" and "tragic," per Guerra, and his defense attorney, Jessie Cook, noted there was "overwhelming reasonable doubt" regarding the accusations brought against McNary.
The woman who accused McNary of rape in December had claimed he trapped her inside of his apartment and proceeded to rape her after she went home with him. The two had met at an Indianapolis nightclub. The woman claimed she did not feel well and went to lie down on McNary's bed, and he proceeded to assault her. McNary had scratches on his back, which the woman said were from her attempt to free herself.

McNary claimed that the two had kissed on the way back to his apartment and that the sex they had that evening was consensual. He claimed the woman scratched him during sex and even apologized for it before rushing out of his apartment unannounced.
McNary has since returned to the Colts' practice squad after his acquittal, the team confirmed on Sept. 6, with general manager Ryan Grigson noting on Sept. 7 there was "no hesitation" to bring him back, per Kevin Bowen of Colts.com.
