Zahra Schreiber, Sting, Heel Turns and More from the Triple H Mailbag

Alfred KonuwaSep 3, 2015

Seth Rollins is arguably WWE's best wrestler and among the top stars. He didn't do so without a solid heel turn, however. So who's next?

Reign of Terror?

"

@ThisIsNasty there hasn't been a significant heel or face turn since Rollins. Next logical turn?

The next logical heel turn hopefully comes from either Dean Ambrose or Roman Reigns. WWE is on to something with Braun Strowman, and honestly, I'd like to see the Wyatts dominate this feud from here on out. This could lead to frustration between the two "brothers," resulting in a heel turn from one of them.

An argument could be made for either Ambrose or Reigns to turn heel. I think a feud between the two would work well while adding a much-needed jolt to their careers.

Both Ambrose and Reigns have been stagnant for months. They're like beer league softball dads the way they still hold on to their glory days from The Shield. WWE is clearly hemming and hawing with these two, and fans will only care less about them the more WWE pushes them as diet Shield.

WWE World Triple H Championship?

"

@Sting puts over @TripleH to open #RAW? Lame. @ThisIsNasty

— Brian Gates (@BrianJGates) September 1, 2015"

I'm not a fan of WWE's direction with the Sting-Rollins feud, either. WWE put Sting in an awkward position after he lost his debut match against Triple H at WrestleMania 31. Now he has to openly acknowledge his loss to establish his reasoning for going after the WWE Championship?

This makes the WWE title seem beneath Triple H. If Rollins can't be as good as Triple H—which for some reason is Sting's current thesis in this feud—and Sting couldn't beat Triple H, what good is being a WWE champion?  It's almost as if it's building toward a stipulation that the winner of this match gets to face Triple H. Let's all hope not.

I understand why Sting lost at WrestleMania. It was probably a good call considering the major segment featuring Triple H, Stephanie, The Rock and Ronda Rousey later that night, especially if it leads to a dream match at WrestleMania 32. But WWE's execution of the Sting-Triple H-Rollins connection has been awkward thus far.

Zahra Drama?

"

@ThisIsNasty what's your thoughts on Zahra & her controversy over the weekend?

— Matthew Johnson (@TheAnti_simp) August 31, 2015"

WWE has a zero-tolerance policy for public scandal. Zahra Schreiber is expendable. It was easy for WWE to make an example of her. Between her offensive remarks, per TMZ, and her involvement in the Rollins nude photo scandal, per James Caldwell of PWTorch, she was causing too much trouble for a developmental talent.

Schreiber is yet another casualty of the new world. Slowly but surely, everybody's unfiltered thoughts, opinions and photos suddenly have a paper trail on social media. Those that are racially insensitive will not be tolerated by a publicly traded company, especially among lesser talents.

Cena Keeping the Belt on Nikki Bella?

"

@ThisIsNasty with the divas thing did you hear that cena told Vince he didn't Nikki to drop the belt to Charlotte

— cesaro firefighter (@bearsfd23) August 30, 2015"

According to F4WOnline (h/t WrestlingInc.com), there were rumors of John Cena stopping WWE from taking the Divas Championship off Nikki Bella, which F4WOnline denied.

Either way, Nikki Bella will always be subject of these rumors because of her relationship with Cena. The rumors actually play into the Bellas' heel persona of an entitled two-woman dynasty. It's hard to believe Nikki's relationship with Cena has not had any effect on her success as a Diva, but I think she would be successful regardless.

The Bella Twins were a hot commodity long before Cena dated Nikki, and the longer Nikki Bella holds the Divas Championship, the more it will mean when somebody beats her for it.

I like Nikki Bella continuing to gloat she will soon be the longest reigning Divas champion of all time. It adds value to the title that this accomplishment is being promoted weeks before it happens. As bad as the Divas revolution has been, the Bellas are actually two of the only characters who can consistently get fans to react.

As much as some fans want to move on from the Bellas, the Divas division needs the Bellas to move forward.

The Dissension?

"

@JustinLaBar @ThisIsNasty @BR_Doctor Thoughts on #TheAscension being fed to veterans like #NewAgeOutlaws and #DudleyBoyz.

— Alex Asher (@thealexasher) August 28, 2015"

The Ascension is just another example of a gimmick that should have stayed in NXT. No matter what WWE tries with various NXT talents, a harsh reality is that the two brands are completely different, and some talents will not connect with a WWE audience the way they connected with Full Sail University.

Sure, there will be wrestlers who find no trouble assimilating to the main roster. Others, like the Ascension, will find their popularity plays off the ironic cheers from a more passionate, hardcore audience that seeks to entertain itself.

The appeal of the Ascension in NXT was fans chanting "Ya!" after every stomp. An arena filled with 16,000 people will not catch on to this trend. That, combined with their blatant similarities to the Legion of Doom upon debuting on the main roster, doomed them from the start.
