Finn Balor has emerged as one of the brightest upcoming stars in WWE’s developmental territory, and his next storyline must be monumental to continue building on the momentum from beating Kevin Owens for the NXT Championship.
With possible feuds that could be built against talents like Samoa Joe, Tyler Breeze or even Cesaro, there is no doubt that proper booking for Balor could help elevate him as the clear face of the brand.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Samoa Joe
The biggest star in NXT not named Balor is Samoa Joe. He may be a fan favorite right now, but Samoa Joe has shown during his run in Ring of Honor and TNA that he can play a heel just as well as anyone.
The next TakeOver special event in October will feature the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament as the main event, and it will be Balor and Joe who tag together.
After the unlikely bedfellows make their way all the way to the finals, Joe must turn on Balor and cost the team the victory. That would begin the feud and then lead to NXT TakeOver: London on Dec. 16 when the two men could finally square off for the championship.
Ideally, Samoa Joe would put Balor over as a strong champion and then move up to the main roster where he would add serious depth and personality. The match itself for the NXT Championship would be incredible, and a series of matches would be even better. But the long-term implications would have serious ramifications on the roster.
Tyler Breeze
There are few men on the NXT roster who deserve a title shot more than Tyler Breeze, and he could be the perfect antagonist for Balor. Prince Pretty needs to meet The Demon.
While both men have contrasting styles, their unique skill sets and abilities to tell a convincing story will result in a series of interesting matches. With an element of comedy before the matches get serious, these characters have the correct elements needed for a long-term angle.
Just like the angle with Samoa Joe, the hope from the long-term booking in a program between Balor and Breeze would be that the champion successfully defends, sending the challenger to the main roster where he can finally showcase his talent.
Breeze vs. Balor would be best for business.
Cesaro
After taking back-to-back losses to Owens, Cesaro going to NXT for a temporary feud against Balor would be the ideal booking for both men. Balor would come out victorious in the angle, and Cesaro would essentially hit the reset button on his recent losing streak.
Balor is looking for a marquee first title defense after retaining against Owens, and Cesaro is a viable challenger. Not only does the Swiss Superman have a history in NXT, but he also has the in-ring skills to put on a match of the year contender against the champion.
Cesaro would not earn the victory, but the time away from the main roster would allow the WWE Universe to miss him. Balor would look like a viable champion for beating him, and Cesaro could then return to Raw and SmackDown without the losses to Owens hanging over his head.
