Barcelona Transfer News: Latest on Andriy Yarmolenko and Nolito Rumours

Christopher SimpsonSep 2, 2015

Barcelona are already looking forward to the January transfer window, where they are reportedly hoping to sign either Dynamo Kiev winger Andriy Yarmolenko or Celta Vigo forward Nolito.

According to Javier Giraldo of Sport, Barca still plan on pursuing the pair in the winter.

Yarmokenko recently expressed his desire to play for the Catalan giants after turning down Arsenal's advances. Per Sport's Toni Juanmarti, he said: "I appreciate the interest, but my dream is to play for Barcelona."

The winger has shown consistently excellent form in his career with Dynamo and thoroughly impressed last season as he notched an outstanding 19 goals and 21 assists in all competitions. As WhoScored.com illustrates, the 25-year-old was especially good in the Europa League:

Yarmolenko has started the new campaign in similar fashion, scoring six goals and registering five assists in just eight appearances. Here's a look at what he could bring to the Camp Nou:

Football writer Yousef Teclab believes the player's transition to one of Europe's top five leagues to be an inevitability:

Spanish football expert Sergi Dominguez outlines Yarmolenko's considerable skills, albeit he feels the Ukrainian is not needed at the Camp Nou:

However, after the sales of Pedro and Adama Traore over the summer, the Blaugrana have little cover for their forwards, so Yarmolenko would make a quality addition.

Likewise would Nolito. According to Giraldo, ESPN have reported that Barca and Celta "have an agreement which could see the player go for between 12 and 15 million... but only to the Blaugrana," somewhat lower than the Spaniard's 18 million release clause.

The forward has already bagged two goals and an assist in Celta's opening two games and enjoyed an excellent season last year as he scored 13 times and created a further 14 in all competitions.

Here are some of the 28-year-old's highlights:

Like Yarmolenko, Nolito has gone on record to welcome Barca's interest. Further, he maintains he would accept a role on the bench providing cover.

Either player would be capable of replacing Pedro's contribution, and with Arda Turan likely to be lacking match fitness in January having not played competitively this season, there lies a strong opportunity to establish themselves as regulars before the Turk is able to make a significant impact.

Expect one of the two to be unveiled at the Camp Nou in January.
