Kell Brook vs. Diego Chaves: Fight Date, Time, Venue and More
In a little over a month, Kell Brook will launch his third IBF welterweight title defense, taking on Diego Chaves in Brook's home of Sheffield, England.
According to the Guardian, the fight is scheduled for Oct. 24 at the Motorpoint Arena.
"Chaves is a rough, tough, durable fighter who is very dangerous," Brook said of his opponent. "He's coming off a draw to Tim Bradley, was ahead on the cards against Brandon Rios until he was disqualified and gave Keith Thurman a solid fight so we know what level he has mixed at and how good he is."
Victor Salazar of Boxing Scene doesn't discredit Chaves' ability but views the matchup as a bit underwhelming for Brook:
Brook is unbeaten in his professional career, running his record to 35-0. His fight with Chaves will be his third of 2015 after wins over Jo Jo Dan in March and Frankie Gavin in May.
Chaves, meanwhile, has just one win in his last four fights, which came against Juan Alberto Godoy. Beating Brook would unquestionably be Chaves' biggest victory of his career, but it won't come easy. Brook is the better fighter, and he'll have a definitive home-arena advantage.
Should he get past Chaves, perhaps then Brook could take on the likes of Timothy Bradley or Juan Manuel Marquez, as Salazar hoped would happen this time around.
