Liverpool Transfer News: Latest on Andriy Yarmolenko and Jose Enrique Rumours
Liverpool missed out on signing Dynamo Kiev winger Andriy Yarmolenko and failed to clear Jose Enrique off their books on deadline day.
Per Tuttomercatoweb, via Uche Amako of the Express, the Reds were linked with a late move for the Ukrainian, as boss Brendan Rodgers "has a strong interest in the Dynamo Kiev winger and is willing to pay his £14.5 million clause."
However, with the transfer window now closed, Yarmolenko remains a Dynamo player, so it appears the Reds were either not interested in pursuing the 25-year-old or failed to land him.

The winger would have been an excellent acquisition for the Reds, whose largely successful summer perhaps lacked one key recruit—a replacement for the departed Raheem Sterling.
Yarmolenko was an ideal candidate. He racked up an impressive tally of 19 goals and 21 assists in all competitions last season, and as WhoScored.com note, he particularly impressed in the Europa League:
He has also begun the new season in fine form, hitting six goals and assisting five in eight appearances for the Ukrainian side.
However, despite the player's relatively low release clause, any difficulties the Reds may have had in signing him are understandable. As Amako's report noted, the winger had already turned down a move to Arsenal, stating, "I am very grateful, but my dream is to play for Barca."
It's unclear whether the Reds pursued Yarmolenko and were refused or were simply never actually interested in the player to begin with.
As reports that Liverpool approached Kiev are yet to surface, it may well be the latter. However, as Joe Rimmer of the Liverpool Echo notes, the Reds "know that it's not easy negotiating with Ukrainian clubs after Yevhen Konoplyanka's proposed move to Anfield fell through in January 2014," so it's possible that was a decisive factor in not making a move.
Rimmer also reports Liverpool were "looking to offload" Jose Enrique on Tuesday.

The Spaniard has made just nine appearances in each of the last two seasons and now represents little more than a drain on Liverpool's resources.
B/R's own Karl Matchett felt strongly the Reds had to get rid of the left-back before the deadline:
The Echo's James Pearce reported a last-minute switch to West Bromwich Albion was on the cards, but the 29-year-old did not move to the Hawthorns:
According to the Press Association's Carl Markham, via the Daily Mail, the player tweeted: "Just to let you all know that it wasn't any offer from West Brom for me. I'm happy to stay and fight for my place."
Markham reports Enrique subsequently deleted his social media accounts due to abuse from supporters.
The Spaniard has one year left on his deal at Anfield and will face a tough time trying to get back into the team with Joe Gomez and Alberto Moreno ahead of him in the pecking order.
However, if Enrique is prepared to put the work in, he could return to the kind of impressive performances he showed at Newcastle United that earned him his move to Liverpool in the first place.
Focussing more on football and less on social media is certainly a start, but Enrique has a lot to prove after two years in the wilderness.
