Tottenham Transfer News: Major Saido Berahino, Ayoze Perez, Victor Moses Rumours
Tottenham Hotspur look set for a busy deadline day, with reports linking the north London club with moves for West Bromwich Albion’s Saido Berahino and Ayoze Perez from Newcastle United.
Berahino is the player who most Spurs fans would love to get in and they will make a final offer for the forward on Tuesday that is close to the Baggies’ £25 million valuation, according to Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail. Berahino is reportedly “desperate” to move to Tottenham.
As we can see here courtesy of OptaJoe, Berahino was a hugely important player for the Baggies last season:

It’s probably why West Brom are so desperate to keep him on board. As noted by James Riach of the Guardian, the Baggies have rejected a transfer request from the player and have been adamant that he will not be sold this summer.

For Spurs, getting this deal over the line would be a major coup and Berahino would become another member of a youthful squad rife with English players. But it’d be a big surprise to see West Brom, after being bullish all summer, change their stance in the final embers of the window.
Perhaps that’s why Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has other targets in mind. Perez would certainly be an intriguing proposition for Tottenham and the Londoners would be willing to part with £15 million to bring the forward to White Hart Lane, according to Adam Crafton of the MailOnline.

Here’s a look at how he compared with Berahino in the Premier League last season, in what were breakthrough campaigns for both players:
| Apps (Sub) | 32 (6) | 25 (11) |
| Goals | 14 | 7 |
| Assists | 1 | 0 |
| Shots per game | 2.3 | 1.7 |
| Key passes per game | 2.3 | 0.8 |
| Dribbles per game | 0.7 | 1.7 |
According to Crafton’s piece, Spurs feel as though they can convince Perez, who is happy at Newcastle, to move to London before Tuesday’s cutoff. The Spanish star would add versatility, flair and guile to the sharp end of the Tottenham side, which are qualities that have been lacking in the early parts of the season.
However, according to Lee Ryder of the Chronicle, rumours linking the Newcastle man with a move to Spurs are unfounded:
Another adaptable forward that was linked to Tottenham is Chelsea’s Victor Moses. According to another piece from Mokbel, Spurs made a late push to bring the player to White Hart Lane on a temporary deal.

Moses is a player who impressed in bursts at Stoke City last season and the 24-year-old is getting to a point in his career where he needs some stability.
Another loan deal with a view to a permanent move to West Ham United may be the ideal move for him, and the Hammers acted swiftly on Tuesday to land their man, per their Twitter feed:
Pochettino clearly feels as though Spurs need reinforcements in attack. Star striker Harry Kane has been bereft of the golden touch that was so prominent last season and as such, going forward Spurs have been a little one-dimensional and predictable. But a player like Berahino or Perez could quickly change that.
Landing Son Heung-min from Bayer Leverkusen was a big coup for Spurs, but another forward would do plenty to help lift the mood around White Hart Lane. You certainly wouldn’t back against club chairman Daniel Levy pulling a couple of rabbits out of the hat late on in the window.
