Best Booking Options for Seth Rollins vs. Sting at WWE Night of Champions 2015

Donald WoodAug 31, 2015

The day after SummerSlam featured Sting returning to Raw to set the challenge for Seth Rollins and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the 2015 edition of the Night of Champions pay-per-view.

It was an absolute shock to see Sting surprise everyone and spoil Rollins' statue unveiling, but how the company moves forward with this storyline will have long-term implications on how both competitors are viewed by the WWE Universe.

Here are the best booking options for the championship match between Sting and Rollins at Night of Champions 2015.

Sheamus Spoils Sting's Crowning Moment

If WWE Creative is willing to take the world title off Rollins at Night of Champions, the company owes fans a wild ending that features Sting earning a win over the champion before being cashed in on immediately following the bout.

Rollins and Sting will have a high-caliber match that will go down as a Match of the Year contender. After pushing each other to the limit, Sting should pin the champion and win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

For the WCW fans, it would be vindication.

In true WWE fashion, though, Sting’s celebration would be cut short by Money in the Bank briefcase holder Sheamus, who would run down at the behest of The Authority’s Triple H and Stephanie McMahon to cash in and win the world title.

This finish would accomplish two major goals. First, it would help turn Rollins face because The Authority would be siding with Sheamus instead of him. Also, it would keep the storyline between Triple H and Sting going while setting up a Triple Threat championship match at Hell in a Cell in October.

Kane Interferes on Rollins' Behalf

Again, the key to all of these match conclusions working is that the talented Rollins helps get a great match out of the 56-year-old Sting. One way to make sure the match doesn’t have to go too long is adding interference, possibly from the returning Kane.

As Sting is about to go for the victory, the freshly masked Kane will hit the ring and attack The Icon. As the Director of Operations, he can change the bout to a no-disqualification bout and hand Rollins the victory.

Interference from Kane at Night of Champions would possibly set up a match between the two men at Hell in a Cell and could eventually help set the stage for Undertaker to make his return and help his brother avoid being embarrassed by Sting.

Undertaker and Brock Lesnar have some unfinished business, but if the rubber match between those two men takes place at Survivor Series or Royal Rumble, teasing Undertaker vs. Sting would help ensure it goes off without a hitch at WrestleMania 32.

Rollins Wins Clean…Seriously

Here’s a wild thought for booking the Night of Champions main event: Let Rollins put on a classic match with Sting and earn a clean victory. Talk about making your company’s champion look strong.

I know it's a novel concept, WWE, but give it a try.

Rollins beating a bona fide legend like Sting would not only make him look like a deserving champion, but it would also help erase the memory of possibly losing to John Cena earlier in the night for the United States Championship if the company goes that route.

In addition to helping Rollins, Sting taking another loss would continue teasing tension between Triple H and The Icon. Losing wouldn't hurt someone with the legendary status of Sting, and it would help validate Rollins as a top star moving forward.
