Justin Hunter's Felony Charge Reduced to Misdemeanor Assault and Battery
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter will stand trial September 1 for misdemeanor assault and battery stemming from a July incident.
According to a statement released by the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney in Virginia Beach, Virginia, per Adam Vingan of the Tennessean, Hunter's felony charges have been reduced following additional interviews with witnesses.
"Based upon subsequent interviews with witnesses, it is the Commonwealth's position that the evidence better supports the charge of assault and battery," the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney said in the statement. "We cannot comment further because the case is pending trial on Tuesday."

According to a July report from TMZ Sports, Hunter was involved in a beach bar brawl that resulted in the victim suffering broken bones and additional minor injuries.
On July 20, Audra Martin of WKRN in Nashville obtained the jail report following Hunter's arrest over the Fourth of July weekend, which said the 24-year-old was charged with malicious intent, stabbing, cutting and wounding.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told Terry McCormick of 247Sports the league was in the process of reviewing the incident.
Hunter is entering his third NFL season, all with the Titans. He's appeared in 26 games and emerged as a solid deep threat with a career average of 18.5 yards per reception.
In the event Hunter misses time as a result of this incident, Tennessee's offense will have to rely on new additions Harry Douglas, Hakeem Nicks and rookie Dorial Green-Beckham to replace the lost production from the former second-round pick.
