WWE's Top Tweets, Instagram Photos and Viral Videos for Week of August 24

Celebration and surprise inspired much of the best WWE-related social media during a busy, busy week.

WWE produced an overflow of programming with NXT TakeOver, Raw, SummerSlam and the WWE Tough Enough finale. During that stretch, Bayley's emotional victory made for a great Instagram photo, while a clip of John Cena hitting his finisher on a TV host was watched several times over and The Dudley Boyz's return to the ring led to some memorable tweets.

And nostalgia hung in the air as both Sting and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin found their way onto the list as well.

Neither of them competed in a match on any of the many WWE cards this week. As for Josh Bredl from Tough Enough, he had his first bout of his career, a showdown with Cesaro in the show's finale. His performance there and during the whole season was good enough to make him and Sara Lee co-winners of the reality show competition.

A Vine video captured a touching post-victory moment between him and his daughter, as both did their own version of his signature "Yeti call."

Bayley had reason to celebrate as well. In a Match of the Year candidate, she knocked off Sasha Banks to become women's champ at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. The emotion she showed in the ring that night was clearly not just scripted.

Backstage, she clutched her newly won title with her family. An Instagram photo showed her still beaming from happiness after the show:

That title win has to rank as one of the best moments in TakeOver history. As for what else would make that list, WWE compiled 10 of the most memorable wins, big moves and unexpected arrivals from the NXT live specials so far.

Sami Zayn, Charlotte and Finn Balor are among the stars in the latest countdown video:

It won't be long before Zayn and Balor follow Charlotte's lead and make their SummerSlam debuts. They have to hope that they fare more like Charlotte and less like John Cena this year. While the former NXT women's champ's team won, Cena ended his clash with a chair in the gut thanks to Jon Stewart.

Stewart interfered in Cena's title match with Rollins in order to assure that Charlotte's Hall of Fame father Ric Flair remained the only wrestler to win the world title 16 times. Cena did get a measure of revenge on Monday's Raw, hitting an Attitude Adjustment on the former host of The Daily Show.

That attack made its way around the Internet, creating plenty of buzz. The SportsCenter Twitter account was among those to share the image of Cena overpowering the comedian:

Meanwhile, Holy Cross football coaches were busy hitting their own versions of WWE moves.

During a practice, the Holy Cross staff got the players pumped up by staging a WWE-style collision on the field. Cena is very familiar with the move that ended the scuffle—the Rock Bottom:

It's a testament to the popularity of the Attitude Era and the early '00s that The Rock's finishing move was pulled out in a scenario like this and that some players called for Austin's "Stone Cold" Stunner.

It sometimes feels like that era just happened, and at others like it was over ages ago. A GIF that CBS Sports shared on Twitter provided the latter feeling:

LeBron James looked like a baby there. And 2003 was so long ago that Sting was just making his TNA debut back then.

After a lengthy, Hall of Fame run with that company, Sting is now making his mark in WWE. He emerged from under a black curtain to pounce on Rollins and The Authority. That moment was among the most watched of the week, the YouTube clip hitting over 1.5 million views:

Sting was not the only name from the past to venture onto Monday's Raw. The show also featured The Dudley Boyz's return to WWE.

In the spirit of throwbacks, the former tag champs posted their own take on the Straight Outta Compton meme:

Bubba Ray and D-Von made The New Day their first victim since coming back. An elated crowd roared as The Dudley Boyz sent the heel trio crashing through tables.

Of course, history shifts depending on who tells it. Big E's version of the events put a funny twist on the attack:

He's going to have to get used to it.

The Dudley Boyz will be pursuing the tag team titles. That means plenty more journeys through tables for the champs. There will be plenty more celebrations to be had; it's just likely not Big E and his crew who will be doing it.
