While the later rounds of the U.S. Open usually features the biggest names in the sport, a number of high-profile players won't make it that far.

Before potentially betting on someone to win the 2015 championship, watch out for a few players destined to fall early.

No. 8 Rafael Nadal

He is clearly one of the best male tennis players of all time, but you wouldn't know it from the way Rafael Nadal has performed this season.
While he does have three titles, inconsistent performances have seen him drop to No. 8 in the world rankings. He has just an 11-6 record on hard courts in 2015, including two losses in his last three matches.
Shockingly he couldn't even advance past the quarterfinals at the French Open, a tournament he had won nine of the previous 10 years. At 29 years old, he is clearly not the player he was even a couple of years ago.
Nadal even admitted he has to change his mentality during the course of the season.
"Losing matches, that's part of my career, too," Nadal said, via Larry Fine of Reuters. Losing is something "I have to accept now."
It seems unlikely the Spaniard will advance past the quarterfinals with Novak Djokovic in his bracket, but the reality is even reaching that far could be a stretch.
No. 7 David Ferrer

An elbow injury has kept David Ferrer off the court for most of the summer, but he will return to action for the U.S. Open. Interestingly, he is still not quite 100 percent as he comes to New York, via Michal Samulski:
Ferrer had a strong run to the quarterfinals at Roland Garros, but his only match since that point was a loss to Marcos Baghdatis in Nottingham in June. He then pulled out of Wimbledon with the elbow injury and hasn't been in a competitive match since.
Although the draw does appear relatively open for Ferrer, with none of the bigger stars being potential opponents until the semifinals. However, someone like Jeremy Chardy can ensure an early exit for the 33-year-old competitor.
No. 4 Caroline Wozniacki

This year's U.S. Open might not go as well as it did last season for Caroline Wozniacki.
The Danish star went to the 2014 U.S. Open finals before losing to friend Serena Williams. She entered the tournament with a lot of momentum including a hard court title at Istanbul and two close losses to Williams in Montreal and Cincinnati.
Unfortunately, the past few months haven't gone quite as well. Wozniacki has lost four straight matches, with three of them coming in North America. This could make it tough for an extended run at this year's championship.
Meanwhile, the opening match might not be as easy as initially expected, via Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv:
Even if she survives the first round, a deep run is not likely to happen.
No. 10 Carla Suarez Navarro

The seed implies that Carla Suarez Navarro should be a favorite to make a relatively deep run at this event with a possible spot in the second weekend. Unfortunately, her recent performance has not been anywhere near as promising.
Since reaching the quarterfinals of a June tournament in Birmingham, the veteran has lost six matches in a row. The last five of which came against opponents ranked outside the top 25 in the world.
In the three previous Grand Slams this season, Suarez Navarro has lost in the first round twice while once making it to the third round. This should not instill too much confidence going into the U.S. Open.
If Denisa Allertova doesn't pull off the upset in Round 1, a second-round opponent like Roberta Vinci could do the job.
