WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from August 26

Erik BeastonAug 27, 2015

On the heels of another critically acclaimed TakeOver special, Wednesday night's episode of NXT revisited Barclays Center for matches that were taped prior to Saturday night's mega-event.

In the main event, Team PCB members Becky Lynch and Charlotte returned to a NXT ring to battle Dana Brooke and Emma in a huge Fatal 4-Way match. By night's end, though, it would not be either of the main roster Divas with their arms raised in victory.

Instead, it would be Emma, who now appears to be next in line for a shot at the NXT Women's Championship, held by Bayley.

Bull Dempsey returned to television, knocking off Elias Samson and revealing that his latest fitness program may have helped revitalize his career. Meanwhile, Eva Marie stepped back into the ring and scored a pinfall victory over Carmella despite nothing but hatred from fans in Brooklyn spewed in her direction.

This week's broadcast may have been little more than a series of matches designed to get the crowd hot prior to this past weekend's outstanding two-hour show, but it did slyly lay the foundation for several stories going forward.

Who emerged from this week's show the biggest winner, and which Superstars and Divas were not so lucky?

Let's take a look.

Winner: Emma

Whether the win came from a botched finish or not (it looked like it did), Emma's victory was absolutely essential when it comes to her character.

After a heel turn months back, she has demonstrated new mannerisms and facial expressions that reflect her attitude change, but she has not been able to secure the wins that would help her gain momentum and earn a shot at the women's title.

Wednesday night, she beat three of the top contenders to the gold and established herself as the biggest threat to Bayley.

A hard worker with superb in-ring skills, Emma has waited far too long for the chance to prove herself. Her call-up to WWE's main roster was more of a disaster than a reward, and now she finds herself back in NXT with the opportunity to remind fans why she was once considered one of the better female workers on the roster.

Losers: Jason Jordan and Chad Gable

The team of Jason Jordan and Chad Gable may have been teaming for quite some time at NXT live events, but to the television audience, they are fairly new. Introduced a few weeks back, they looked impressive in scoring a victory, and it appeared as though Jordan had found the perfect partner after weeks and months of losing.

Then, in what should have been their biggest opportunity to showcase their skills yet, the duo lost—this time, in an eight-man tag team match. Rather than partners Scott Dawson or Dash Wilder being booked to take the fall, though, it was Gable whom Enzo Amore pinned.

Why would Creative take the time to build two guys up, only to have one of them lose a meaningless multiteam match in which their partners would have made much more sense taking the fall?

It was a questionable bit of booking, but thankfully, the NXT faithful appear to be so into the Gable character that he may be able to withstand the loss and move onward and upward.

But that will only be possible if he is booked strongly enough.

Winner: Bull Dempsey

As "The Last of a Dying Breed," Dempsey was a one-trick pony, a generic villain whose brawling carried him through a number of squash matches that were both uninteresting and unimpressive. And fans let him know about it with a lack of reaction.

The new Bull Fit gimmick, though, has been spotlighted in some very entertaining pretaped vignettes, and Wednesday night, the new and improved Dempsey returned to the squared circle to battle Elias Samson.

It was a fairly one-sided match, with Dempsey shining brightest, but it was the way fans reacted to him that should be the most encouraging.

While he did not work as a generic heel, he has the potential to succeed as the lovable comedic babyface. Clearly someone driven to succeed, the continued weight loss gimmick and an expanded move set should help him finally get over.
