Following in the footsteps of Boise State, Eastern Washington and other programs, Belle Vernon Area (Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania) High School has added a bold new turf to its football stadium.

The Leopards spent more than $1 million renovating James Weir Stadium, adding a state-of-the-art scoreboard, new lighting and more. Most notably, gold turf has been installed in the stadium.

Because why not?

Adding this wild field to the stadium was obviously not cheap. The gold turf cost Belle Vernon nearly $200,000, according to WTAE's Shannon Perrine and Kaitlin Zurawsky.

Hopefully everyone in Belle Vernon believes having the high school football field stand out was worth the cost.
