Myles Garrett Reacts to Return from Injury in Rams' Win to Jayden Daniels, Commanders
After being sidelined for the last seven weeks due to knee surgery, Los Angeles Rams star edge rusher Myles Garrett made his long-awaited return to the lineup on Sunday against the Washington Commanders.
Garrett appeared to be in top form, recording three sacks and a forced fumble as the Rams earned a 20-13 victory to improve to 5-4. He's now the first Rams player to have three or more sacks in a single game since his teammate Aaron Donald in 2021.
"Honestly, it means so g--damn much. This is the kind of adversity that I really haven't faced in my pro career," Garrett told Fox Sports' Jennifer Hale after the game.
Garrett also told reporters after the game that he felt a sense of relief to produce the way he did on Sunday.
"It was a weight off my shoulders, just getting back to where I am," he said. "I'm nowhere near where I want to be as far as, like, my performance and things I know I can do and how I can move, but this is a confidence booster for sure."
After a quiet start to the game, Garrett made his presence felt in the second quarter when he got to Commanders star quarterback Jayden Daniels and knocked the ball loose for the strip-sack. Omar Speights recovered the fumble, giving the Rams a chance for a field goal before halftime.
Garrett then recorded his second sack early in the fourth quarter to help preserve Los Angeles' lead.
Garrett got to Daniels for the third time on a late third down to end Washington's comeback attempt.
The Rams entered Sunday's game ranked near the bottom of the league with just 12 sacks, as they surely felt Garrett's absence. His return could help Los Angeles regain its footing on defense just in time for the playoff race.
Garrett and the Rams will try to keep up their strong play as they look to extend their win streak to four straight games in their Week 10 NFC West matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
