Richardson Suffers Head Injury
Friday, August 21
According to Kimberly Martin of Newsday, Jets head coach Todd Bowles announced after their 30-22 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
Richardson took a hit to the helmet from Robenson Therezie and immediately went to the locker room, per WFAN's Chris Lopresti.
He was not the only Jet that suffered a concussion against the Falcons as safety Durrell Eskridge and wide receiver Jeremy Kerley were also effected.
After not playing in a game for the Jets last season, his third in the NFL, it seemed the that trend would continue for Richardson after the team acquired Stevan Ridley and Zac Stacy. The two would only add to the already deep backfield that included Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell.
Richardson has been impressive thus far, according to Scout.com's Connor Hughes:
"He displayed nice vision, decisiveness in picking a hole and explosiveness once he gets to the next level. He’s been reliable out of the backfield, competent as a pass blocker and presently sits in front of Stacy on the Jets depth chart.
"
It's safe to say the Jets won't suffer much from Richardson's absence, no matter how long it will be as a timetable for his return has not been announced. But New York is still going to have a solid running game with a number of running backs whose varying styles of play will be difficult for opposing defenses to keep track of.
