New Jets Trade Rumors Leak on Positions to Watch and Stance on 2026 NFL Deadline
The New York Jets "don't expect to be very active" prior to Tuesday's NFL trade deadline, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.
Cimini posited New York possesses "a surplus of safeties" that could be leveraged for some draft capital or perhaps some reinforcements along the defensive line.
Broadly speaking, though, the Jets aren't "going to trade an asset that could help in the future" when their focus is on 2027 and beyond.

Jags Hope to Improve Defense💪
General manager Darren Mougey laid out the overall aim for 2026 when he rolled into the year with Geno Smith at quarterback. New York is treading water until next spring, when it will have three first-round picks and a ton of salary cap space.
The fanbase doesn't like watching a 2-6 team, but it can see the strategy being put into place.
Improvement can unfold quickly in the NFL. The Las Vegas Raiders have already surpassed their win total from 2025. The New England Patriots went from back-to-back 4-13 finishes to the Super Bowl after hiring Mike Vrabel.
Mougey doesn't need to tear the roster down to the studs because he has effectively done that already.
The Athletic's Jonathan Jones reported the Jets "have no desire or intention to trade wide receiver Garrett Wilson or running back Breece Hall."
"These two players are pieces of the team's foundation in what is supposed to be a turnaround year," Jones wrote.
Wilson and Hall are both in their mid-20s, and they're signed through 2030 and 2028, respectively. They should be considered long-term focal points for the offense.
Flipping Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner, the latter in particular, for prime draft capital looks even savvier in retrospect. Sooner or later, a front office's priorities have to shift, and appears that has happened for Mougey.
