The Associated Press reported the news earlier Saturday.

The 25-year-old is eligible to sign with an MLB team as a free agent any time from Sunday through Dec. 22. However, the current collective bargaining agreement expires on Dec. 1, and MLB can lock out the Major League Baseball Players Association, which would slice that negotiating period by three weeks, as the AP noted.
Tseng made 48 appearances last year, striking out 65 and walking just 13 over 52.1 innings while amassing 25 saves, per the AP.
Dustin Riese of CubsHQ added that Tseng's fastball can reach up to 97 mph. He also noted Tseng had a near-33 percent strikeout rate and a near-31 percent whiff rate.
As far as potential landing spots are concerned, reports indicate that the Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates and Los Angeles Dodgers have shown varying levels of interest.
Brett Taylor of Bleacher Nation provided more insight on Tseng from the Cubs' perspective.
"It maybe more of a developmental play at a lower price if the Cubs were to go after Tseng, rather than a sure-fire impact move in the bullpen. From clips I've seen, Tseng throws a slider, a splitter, and a fastball that touches 97.5 mph, which wouldn't be elite, but very easily could be playable if it comes with other compelling pitch characteristics."
Tseng, listed at 5'8" and 150 pounds, also appeared in this year's World Baseball Classic for Chinese Taipei and registered a pair of scoreless innings over two appearances, striking out two. That included a huge save to cap a massive upset for Chinese Taipei over Korea, 5-4 in 10 innings.
Now Tseng will try his hand in the major leagues after a great 2026 season.
