New York Jets general manager Darren Mougey appears to be ramping up his prep for the 2027 NFL draft.

The second-year general manager was seen speaking with Oklahoma State Cowboys offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Sean Brophy before the team's matchup against the Kansas State Wildcats on Saturday.

If Mougey was visiting Kansas to watch Oklahoma State quarterback Drew Mestemaker, he likely left the game impressed. Mestemaker completed 22 of 28 pass attempts for 313 passing yards with four touchdowns and an interception in a 66-28 victory.

Mestemaker is projected to be the first quarterback selected in the 2027 NFL Draft, according to Mock Draft Database. The Jets currently hold three first-round picks in the upcoming draft, including two they acquired before last year's trade deadline by shipping cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys.

If the NFL season ended today, all three of those picks would be among the top 10 selections, according to NFL's Chad Reuter. New York's highest selection would be their own, which is currently the No. 5 overall pick. That may not be high enough to select Mestemaker, especially since the Miami Dolphins — who currently hold the No. 2 pick — are likely looking for a franchise quarterback of their own.
