New WWE Rumors Reveal The Rock's 30th Anniversary Celebration with New Title Belt Plans & More

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson made his then-WWF in-ring debut at the 1996 Survivor Series as Rocky Maivia. Three decades later, The Rock stands as one of the most electrifying and exciting entertainers and performers in pro wrestling history.

Per WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, WWE plans to honor the 30th anniversary of Johnson's debut in numerous ways.

November (and specifically Survivor Series) has long been an important month for the Rock's WWE history.

Not only did he debut there in 1996, but The Rock won his first-ever world championship at the 1998 Survivor Series, when he beat Mankind to win the Deadly Game single-elimination tournament.

After winning in a finish reminiscent of the Montreal Screwjob at the 1997 Survivor Series, The Rock made his heel turn and aligned with Vince and Shane McMahon as the new Corporate champion.

In 2011, The Rock and John Cena beat The Miz and R-Truth in a tag team match, with The Rock pinning the Miz after the People's Elbow.

However, The Rock gave the Rock Bottom to Cena after the match, laying further groundwork for a feud that saw the two men battle in the main event at the following WrestleMania (XXVIII). The Rock won that 30-minute match.

Overall, The Rock is an eight-time world champion and five-time Intercontinental champion, and he was one of the top champions and performers during the Attitude Era, so it makes sense for the WWE to honor him in the present date.

It'll be interesting to see if The Rock appears on WWE programming as part of the celebration. He last appeared on television at the 2025 Elimination Chamber, when John Cena aligned with the Rock, went heel and turned on Cody Rhodes by ruthlessly attacking him.

In the present date, The Rock remains a fixture in Hollywood. He is currently shooting the film, Lizard Music, directed by Benny Safdie.
