Shedeur Sanders Hyped by Browns WR Before Potential Start vs. Saints Amid Watson Injury, 'Baller'

The Cleveland Browns feel like they will be in good hands if second-year quarterback Shedeur Sanders has to start Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints.

After veteran signal-caller Deshaun Watson was placed in concussion protocol on Tuesday, Sanders' teammates are confident that he could lead them to success if called upon.

"Just his competitive nature, man, his big-play ability, the way he drives the ball downfield, gives the receiver chances and just make plays," Browns receiver Jerry Jeudy said, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. "He's a baller, man."

Sanders briefly saw the field in Sunday's 27-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 24-year-old played in eight games as a rookie and threw for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions on his way to being named to the Pro Bowl as an alternate.

At 5-3, the Browns are still in a position to fight for an AFC North title in a year when they were expected to be rebuilding. If Sanders starts Sunday against New Orleans (2-5), Cleveland will be confident that he can steady the ship until Watson returns.
