Colts' Jonathan Taylor Addresses If He's Requested Colts Trade on Video Amid NFL Rumors

Joseph ZuckerNov 5, 2026

Indianapolis Colts star Jonathan Taylor is tuning out the steady drumbeat of rumors about his future with the team.

Taylor addressed whether he has requested a trade ahead of the deadline when speaking to reporters Thursday. He also called the rumors "noise," pointing out how the saga has been "dragging on for a while now":

It's not a foregone conclusion the three-time Pro Bowler is moved before the Nov. 10 trade deadline. But the Colts are open for business after trading away Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Indy could wait until after Week 9's games before making a final decision on its best remaining trade assets.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network offered a similar narrative:

Taylor is signed for two more years, and he's putting together a solid season so far. He has run for 610 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 4.1 yards per carry.

If the Colts think they can make a quick turnaround in 2027, then holding onto Taylor makes sense. That's the approach the Philadelphia Eagles are taking with their star running back, Saquon Barkley.

When Taylor's value may never be higher, holding onto him through the deadline is less logical if ownership is ready for a full rebuild. Fans will also read between the lines with his vague response to a direct question about a trade request.

Maybe the Colts stand pat. It feels like a scenario where they'll wait as long as they can to see if anybody will increase their bid. Then they'll settle for the best offer on the table.
