Japanese Phenom Shoki Oda Linked to Yankees, Dodgers, Phillies, Rangers in New MLB Rumors
With 18-year-old pitching phenom Shoki Oda eyeing an immediate move to MLB rather than starting his pro career in his native Japan, several clubs have been linked to the right-hander.
Per MLB insider Francys Romero, Oda is expected to meet with the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies, among others, ahead of him potentially being eligible to sign when the international signing period opens on Jan. 15.
Romero also reported the eight officials from the Texas Rangers met with Oda this week that "left a great impression" on the teen phenom.
