John Cena appeared on Wednesday's edition of NXT and announced Zilla Fatu as the next invitee to the inaugural John Cena Classic.

As Cena walked backstage before hitting the ring, he saw a poster of Gunther, who defeated the 17-time WWE world champion in his final match last December. Cena gave a tip of the cap before continuing his walk.

Cena arrived to the ring to a thunderous ovation and cheers that continued even after he started speaking.

Cena told the audience he was there to speak about the John Cena Classic. A few moments later, Fatu entered the ring.

In a touching moment, Cena told Fatu how much his family meant to him and how much they did for him during his career. He also told Fatu how much his father, the late WWE star Umaga, meant to him.

Cena then said it was his honor to give Fatu a spot in the Classic. Fatu, of course, accepted, telling how much he appreciated Cena, thanking him for the opportunity and noting how blessed he was to receive the chance.

Last Monday, Cena announced the debut of the John Cena Classic, which will feature Raw and SmackDown superstars taking on NXT wrestlers in various matches throughout the night. Fans will vote to decide the Classic winner at the end of the night.

The event will occur live from ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Cody Rhodes was announced as the first Classic participant.

Cena is scheduled to be on WWE screens three times between now and the Classic. The next appearance will be Friday, Nov. 13 at SmackDown in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
