Ashton Jeanty's NFL Future Addressed by Raiders' Klint Kubiak After RB's Reduced Role vs. Jets

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty saw a steep drop-off in reps last week against the New York Jets, but head coach Klint Kubiak still had high praise for him on Thursday.

Kubiak said the future is still bright for the young Jeanty, adding that he's still developing.

"Ashton's a young player and has a really bright future ahead. And I'm so glad that we have him, so glad we have," Kubiak told reporters. "Him and all these young players on our roster that are continuing to grow. And it's our job as coaches to develop them."

Jeanty had just two carries in last week's win over the Raiders, while Mike Washington Jr. got the bulk of the carries, 25 for 83 yards.

Jeanty has rushed for 337 yards and a touchdown through eight games.

According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, the lack of carries was meant to be a "wake-up call" to Jeanty from the Raiders. If Jeanty continues to struggle, Las Vegas is "content to distribute the carries in Washington's favor moving forward, as he offers a more explosive element in the run game right now."

The Raiders used the No. 6 overall pick on Jeanty in 2025 and still hope he becomes a cornerstone of their franchise. Perhaps the "wake-up call" last week will help Jeanty turn things around.
