Garrett Wilson Injured, Latest Updates on Jets WR's Status vs. Chiefs After Concussion
New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson's status for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs is up in the air.
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters on Wednesday that Wilson has been placed in concussion protocol.
It's unclear exactly when Wilson was injured. He played the entirety of Sunday's 38-33 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, finishing with 83 yards on six receptions.
Wednesday marks the first day of practice going into Week 9 for the Jets.
NFL rules require players to go through a five-step process to be fully cleared from concussion protocol. The return-to-participation protocol includes supervised limited stretching and balancing; then aerobic exercises; football-specific exercises; non-contact training drills; and full football activity after receiving clearance from a team doctor.
Wilson has started each of New York's first eight games this season. He was limited to seven games during the 2025 campaign due to knee injuries.
The 26-year-old has never missed a game in his NFL career due to a concussion. He is on pace for the best season of his career with 43 receptions, 527 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
New York has lost six of its first eight games this season, including three straight. Five of the Jets' six losses have come by seven points or fewer.
The Jets will look to end their losing skid against the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. They haven't beaten Kansas City since December 2017.
If Wilson is unable to play, Adonai Mitchell and Omar Cooper Jr. will be the top two receivers for the Jets.
