Mack Hollins Injury Update, Latest Rumors on Patriots WR's Return Timeline Ahead of Packers Game

The New England Patriots may be getting much-needed reinforcements for their injury-depleted receiving corps.

Patriots wide receiver Mack Hollins is set to return to practice, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday. Hollins has missed the last four games after being placed on the injured reserved list with a calf injury. A return to practice opens a 21-day window for Hollins to be activated, but he could also make his return as soon as Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

Hollins reeled in 15 catches for 209 yards through four games prior to his injury, but his value to the team goes beyond his statistical production. The 33-year-old wide receiver has excelled as a blocker on running plays and has been a steady veteran presence in the locker room.

The Patriots has struggled to find consistent production from their wide receivers this season. Wide receivers A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs headlined the Patriots' offseason acquisitions, but both players have missed significant time due to injuries. New England also parted ways with wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Kayshon Boutte, who led the team in yards and touchdowns last season, respectively.

The Patriots are entering one of the toughest stretches on their schedule, and Hollins would immediately bolster a wide receiver room that dwindled down to just DeMario Douglas, Kyle Williams and Efton Chism III last week.

New England will host the Packers at Gillette Stadium on Sunday before traveling to Munich for an international matchup against the Detroit Lions.
